Panaji: Two centers, Ponda with 90mm and Sanguem with 75mm, received heavy rainfall while others received moderate shower, because the strong phase of the Monsun activity swelled surplus up to 3% on Wednesday.
During August, the rainy season’s activities were boring and only 51% of rainfall for the month had been recorded by the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Panaji.
The overall deficit has touched 2%.
The widespread rainfall during the last 24 hours produced a 47mm brush mantra for this season in September.
“The rainfall for the last 24 hours was caused by a low pressure area in Madhya Pradesh and some of the North Maharashtra,” said an IMD official.
The system, which has developed into a well-marked low pressure area, weakened into a low pressure area on Wednesday.
During the last 24 hours, other centers recorded moderate rainfall.
Canacona and Sakhali received each of the 62.2mm, Valpoi 52.9mm, Mapusa 50mm, Quepem 42.2mm, Panaji 38.9mm, 33.1mm Margao and other centers on a lower scale.
Seasonal total now nudges normal, touching 2.855mm on Wednesday, compared to normal 2,778.2mm at this stage.
IMD, Panaji has expected heavy rainfall in isolated places for the next few days while low pressure areas are likely to be formed on September 11 in Bengal Bay.
