PANAJI: Nine days after Russia Ekaterina Titova, 34, was found dead in a rented room in Oxel, Siolim, the Goa police registered the case as a murder after Postmortem confirmed it.
Denis Kriuchkoy, also a Russian, was arrested.
Goa police at first ruled out a rotten game in this case.
Anjuna Pi Suraj Gawas said that they suspected that “efforts to sexual violence” might have caused the murder.
On the same day Titova was found dead, another Russia, Alexandra Ri Djavi, 24, was found hanging in Siolim, and the guy said it was a “clear suicide”.
“There is no rotten game in Djavi’s death,” Goa SP Shobhit Saxena said.
Postmortem on the two bodies was carried out at the Goa Medical College (GMC) on Friday.
In the case of Titova, it said that the victim and another woman had visited Kriuchkoy in Siolim.
Kriuchkoy is used to stay alone in a rented place.
He said that the investigation revealed that the three were drunk.
“Kriuchkoy commits his murder of his friend Titova by compressing his nose and mouth,” said Gawas, added that Kriuchkoy could not be traced since August 19 (last Thursday).
On that day, Anjuna police received a call from Emri 108 who told them that a woman was found dead in her rented room at Oxel.
“At that place, we found Titova, lying in bed in her room,” said the guy.
PI has said that after the investigation with his roommate, the police learned that they both consumed alcohol until 5am on Thursday, after that the deceased went to bed in his room and the friend went to sleep in the hall.
“In the afternoon, his friend woke up and found that there was no response from the deceased,” he said.
“Therefore, he opened the door of the room and found him lying in bed, and there was no movement.” “This case has been solved through excellent work carried out by doctors of the Forensic Department, GMC, and the Goa police investigation team,” said the legal counsel for the Russian Consulate in Goa, Vikram Varma.
“I hope we can collectively bring up the truth in the case of Alexandra Ri Djavi too.”
