PANAJI: Army Chief of Staff (CoA) General Manoj Mukund Naravane visited Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) on Saturday to review the construction of 12 fast patrol ships that were obtained to patrol a large water body at Lake Pangong Tso in East Ladakh.
General Naravane was complained about in the construction methodology of composite boats in plastic facilities reinforced GSL glass.
The Army Chairperson was also briefed on the capabilities of the first prototype ship onboard platform which was recently launched, said the GSL chairman and managing director B B Nagpal.
The need for these new high-speed ships to patrol the Lake Pangong Tso was felt after military clashes between Indian and Chinese forces, which led to a tense situation in the actual control line (LAC).
The head of the Army was in Goa as part of an official visit to the command of the South Army Indian army.
