Panaji: BJP on Thursday decided to oppose the assembly selection of February 14 in 38 assembly constituents.
Benaulim and Nuvem are the only two seats, from which the party has decided not to look for candidates at the symbol.
The names of selected candidates will be submitted to the parliamentary council on January 15.
“We will go to Delhi with the selected names on January 15 and the Parliament Council will meet on January 16,” said Minister of Pramod Sawant’s head to TI.
Sawant, State President of BJP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Secretary General of the Party (Organization) of Satish Dhond, among others, will attend a meeting in Delhi.
The BJP Core Committee and the State Committee held a meeting on Thursday and chose the names of candidates to be sent to the Parliament Council to declare the ticket.
Both committees have considered the results of secret voting carried out to choose candidates in every constituency, survey reports and land reports before controlling candidates.
Four central observers, including the election of the cave election responsible for Devendra Fadnavis, attended the meeting to choose the names of candidates.
A senior BJP official said that in most constituencies only one name was chosen, but in some constituencies the two names had been chosen.
“The first list of candidates can consist of constituencies where only one name is sent,” the official said.
A member of the Senior Core Committee said that there was a lot of constituencies where the party was still reviewing the situation and again the Core Committee and the State Election Committee would hold a meeting to discuss and accelerate the list of controversial candidates.
This week, BJP held two secret vote rounds “to follow the democratic process in the party” to select candidates.
The first round was held in Panaji to decide on the North Goa Constitution, while the second was held in Margao to decide on the South Goa candidate.
More than 100 BJP carakartas from different mandals portray their voices to support their candidates.
The BJP Core Committee member said that if possible, the party could collect candidates in the Benaulim and Nuvem for the election.
