Panaji: After more than three years of closing the mining industry, the largest income generator, the state government on Thursday took a step towards restarting mining activities in Goa by approving the Corporation Bill of Goa Mineral Corporation, 2021.
The bill will be introduced in the Monsune session from the Assembly starting next week.
Cabinet records said that mining concessions in the state were granted based on the decision of 1906.
On December 19, 1961, Goa, Daman and Diu were released from the Portuguese and Goa government into parts of India.
However, the concession was considered expiration on December 12, 1961, which was the date appointed according to Abolisi Law, 1987, since then the concession was treated as a rental that was considered under the UU MMDR.
The note said, “MMDR Law was changed in 2015 and the provisions for the rental auction were included in the changed actions, after the expiration of mining rentals.
Therefore it is necessary for the right implementation of legal provisions and to conduct scientific and sustainable mining to generate income For state governments.
“The state government has updated 88 rent for the second update.
However, the update of the 88 leases was canceled by the Supreme Court.
The state government has submitted a review petition, but was dismissed.
The state government has signed a MoU with Exploration Mineral Corporation Ltd to mapping mineral resources in the state and to identify potential mining locations.
As a guarantee of the minister’s chairman in his budget speech for 2021-22 for the formation of the company to carry out mining operations in an orderly and ecologically sustainable manner and for the material that is connected to it or incidental, the proposal is moved to the government in this case where it is proposed to form the corporation below state law, the word cabinet said.
