POINGUINIM: Canacona Mamlatdar Vimod Dalal has proposed two new polling rooms in Canacona in Avali and Nadkem in Cotigao Panchayat, because nearly 527 voters from two remote areas must travel to outlets located very far.
Dalal told TII that voters from Nadkem-Keri had to walk through thick vegetation to the distant polling cubicle, while the residents of Avali, Avem outlets apply.
“Because of the distance, voters are hesitant to choose but the problem will be resolved after a new booth approved by the Indian Election Commission,” Dalal said.
Canacona constituency currently has 57 booths interspersed throughout, but if the newly proposed booth is approved, the number will increase up to 59 for the upcoming assembly poll.
The constituency has 34,059 voters consisting of 17,402 women and 16,657 men.
