Panaji: After illegal waste disposal was reported in the Kadamba highlands at Azossim-Mandur Panchayat a few months ago, it has now been revealed that unknown people use remote areas to store industrial chemicals in the container.
Acting on complaints from Ramrao Wagh politicians, the Country Pollution Control Board of Goa State (GSPCB) held an inspection.
“A total of 17 containers were found,” said Wagh.
The area belongs to Azossim Comunidade.
In his complaint to the authorities, including the Revenue Minister, GSPCB, and local Panchayat, Wagh accused that the transportation and storage of hazardous chemicals is serious about problems and pose a threat to natural habitat such as the country’s peacock.
“That (Peacock) was found abundant in this area,” he said.
The 15m wide road for a 50m stretch has been built and suspicion is being raised can be extended to the upcoming project in the area.
“This numbered encroachment and use of illegal land comunidade azossim,” said Wagh.
