PANAJI: All floods affected by their mud houses will get a total compensation between Rs 2-2.5 lakh on August 15.
Those whose homes suffer from large damage will be compensated by up to RS 1 Lakh and those whose homes have small damage will get between Rs 25,000 to 50,000 Rs.
This number will be subject to sanctions on September 30, the Chief of the Minister of Pram Sawant guaranteed at the State Assembly on Friday.
Sawant said that according to the initial estimate, damage worth Rs 91 Lakh was reported throughout the state.
However, MLA Opposition said that the amount of compensation was very little and that the state government should get a house built, through the Department of Public Works, for those affected.
“Not only you, I have seen the house collapsed right in front of me and people cry.
I have seen a concrete house sinking with one meter.
Anyone who has a mud house that has collapsed in the flood will get Rs 1-2 lakh on August 15.
For great damage, we will provide up to RS 1lakh and for mild damage between Rs 25,000 to 50,000, which will be provided by September 30 “Sawant said.
Sawant said that 83 affected families had also been given a ration kit for the past 15 days.
The family of the two people who lost their lives in floods provided compensation for each RS 4 lakh.
“At least 20-25 mud houses have collapsed.
According to the norm, they will receive Rs 90,000, but we have directly climbed this number to Rs 2 Lakh,” Sawant said, added that it was not feasible for the government to build a house as compensation as’ there Many difficulties’ are involved in this matter.
He said that the state also considered compensation for the items lost as far as possible.
CM says that in cases where many families live at home together, it will likely be noticed to provide each family of separate compensation.
Opposition, however, said it was impossible to build a house with a little compensation.
