Goa CM Pramod Sawant Pitches for Skills Education, Points to 50% Unemployment Graduates

PANAJI: The Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant on Wednesday made a strong tone for skill-based education when he showed that at least 50% of students remained unemployed after completing their graduation.
He also said the New National Education Policy (NEP) will be held in the state of the next academic year.
“Education skills is the future for our students.
If we don’t give them skills when they graduate, they will not benefit,” he said.
“Over the past few years, some graduates have fainted from our college, but we have to ask ourselves whether we produce quality graduates and how many of these work towards their future …

Citing examples of skills-based education is needed, Sawant said that when the government seeks to fill five vacancies for the stenographer, it only receives 25 applications, but if it advertises five vacancies for under-Division employees, as many as 25,000 applications are accepted.
Propose that innovative courses must be offered by state universities, he said Goa is the best country in India where infrastructure creation for the education sector and human resources.
He also said Goa was the only country that offered a grant – in direct assistance and infrastructure from pre-pratama to the level of higher education, and ensured that the empty teacher posts would be filled within two to three months.
Sawant spoke after inaugurating a two-day seminar aimed at assessment and demisting accreditation by NAAC.
“After we held a seminar for students in collaboration with CMO, the Directorate of Sports and Higher Education Directorate, many students said they got a lot of information about various opportunities in the hospitality sector we had placed the system, but finally, it was the responsibility of the government,” he said.
