Saligao: Colvale Panch Babani Salgaonkar has been booked by Colvale police concerning the allegations of misuse of government funds in a 60,000 RS tone.
Police said the Secretary of Panchayat Premanand Mandrekar submitted a complaint stating that between March 8 and September 27, Salgaonkar was asked to buy a laptop for the official use of Panchayat under funds received as part of the 14th Finance Commission.
Thus, Panchayat invites the tender and after following the procedure needed, paying Rs 60,000 for purchase.
Mandrekar’s complaint further said that the bidder told them that the laptop had been collected by Salgaonkar, who later Sarpanch.
However, he said, the laptop was never received by the Pancrayat office, but was used by the defendant for personal use.
