PANAJI: Congress on Wednesday released an audio clip where Mandrem BJP MLA Dairand Sopte was known to ask two unknown entrepreneurs for ‘donations’ Rs 44 Lakh.
President of the State of President Girish Chodankar claimed that audio recordings were conversations between Sopte and representatives of a business actor and that Sopte demanded bribery to ‘manage’ government officials.
Chodankar released audio at a press conference to prove his previous accusation that BJP MLA collected ‘Tax Sopte’ from entrepreneurs in his election.
Audio recording, which is in Hindi, has a businessman told Sopte that it was difficult to spend a large amount because the construction of 22 wooden huts they were still active and no income produced.
“Sopte claims to manage everyone.
He wants Rs 3 Lakh in advance and says that Tax SOPTE must be given to someone named Ozzie,” Chodankar said.
In the recording, Sopte said to be heard explained that before the election, there was a lot of money.
Sopte then told two entrepreneurs to talk with their political contact and parents and decide quickly.
Employers requested a week to decide and arrange funds.
He then asked for a duo not to worry about the call from the official.
Sopte filed a complaint against Chodankar for slandering it.
“I am sure that I will get justice,” he said.
Sopte and his supporters also burned the effigion of Chodankar in front of the Congress house.
Sopte handed over his complaint to DGP.
“It’s not my voice on the audio clip,” he said.
