PANAJI: The state government must contact public hearing one day on the coastal zone management plan (CZMP) scheduled for July 8 and must hold a village level discussion, Congress said here on Monday.
The party said that while the government has held public hearing, it has also been simultaneously imposing part 144 and curfew across the state that prevents people from gathering.
Congress claims that the country’s sole intention behind rushing through public hearing is to implement the new CRZ notification of 2019, which will reduce zones without development (NDZ) up to 50m, eventually allowing the coastal region of Goa to be sold to private companies.
“I sentenced CM Pramod Sawant for being a mute audience for increasing demand for residents to delay public hearings for CZMP,” said GPCC President Chodankar Girish.
The party shows that orders for curfew and part 144 have been put in place, which clearly states that anyone who breaks the order will be ordered with a criminal procedure code.
He also said that many stakeholders may not participate in hearing for fear of running on the law.
