Goa: DCS-Vascon appears as a top bidder for the convention center

PANAJI: The state government has completed the company for the construction of the Mega Convention Center in Dona Paula, an estimated cost of more than Rs 800 Crore.
A senior officer said the award letter would be given next week to the DCS-Vascon consortium, which has emerged as the highest bidder.
“The long-delayed dream to have the center of the International Convention in Dona Paula will eventually be achieved.
The foundation stone for the convention center will soon be placed,” said Minister of Pramod Sawant’s Chief.
The Convention Center will be built in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and the income sharing model.
On January 14, the state government PPP cells held a virtual pre-offer meeting with the company and answered their questions related to the project.
Although the government has received an extraordinary response at a pre-supply meeting with 15 companies that attract attention to the project, only two companies show interest to take the project.
For five years, after describing the plan to build a convention center for a capacity of 5,000 seats, the state government has been waving companies that invite tenders to establish facilities.
In the first phase, along with the convention center, multiplex and five-star hotels have been proposed in Dona Paula in an area of ​​around 97,000 square meters.
Previously, this project was proposed on the land of 2.9 lakh SQM, which was intended to establish his habitat Rajiv Gandhi.
The first phase of the project will cost around RS 800 Crore, and depends on further expansion plan, the cost will increase and will be borne by the bidder.
Earlier this year, the Country Cabinet agreed to the Engagement of Knight Frank (India) Private Ltd as a project consultant.
Initially it was conceptualized in 2015, this project was through a long bureaucratic process and described between departments before landing with PPP cells.
In 2018, when the Corporation of Economic Development (EDC) was responsible for the project, 25 companies have shown interest.
These include ITC, INORBIT, strong Australia, Dempo groups, HKS-US, Essel, Hiranandani Group, Chowrange Group, L & T, Amanora, Zee and feedback.
EDC’s proposal, it is estimated at the 1,400 crore Rs and also includes a film shooting warehouse in the room, the Goa Community Entertainment Office, IFFI office, and a smart city center.
