Goa: Decibel Broken Meter, Anjuna Police visited the late night party but could not check the sound pollution

Panaji: Anjuna Police Station does not have a decibel functional meter to make sound pollution checks, the Bombay High Court in Goa is told in litigation of public interest.
The request accused that the rave parties went into the time of Wee morning in anjuna-vavator beach belt and that there was no check on the sound pollution caused by these parties.
The decibel meter allocated for the Anjuna police station did not work and sent for repairs, the police station was handed over to the High Court.
In a letter, the police station was received in October 2019, it was stated that the decibel meter could not be repaired.
The police station moved the record on the same day to Sdpo Mapusa with a request to give it a new decibel meter, but had not accepted it even though there was a reminder letter in April this year.
The applicant, an Anjuna citizen, stated that on all occasions when he complained to the police station and on public helpline number 100, police officials visited the site “without decibel meters”.
Earlier this week, the high court was told that excessive hard music from the allowed level was played exceeded 10 nights between August 13 and August 15.
The applicant filed a video of the parties to the High Court and after watching them, the court stated that the owner of the hut did not have permission to play music in his hut.
The petition stated that pollution of voice had disrupted the peace and tranquility of Chapora, Anjuna and vavator and influenced senior citizens, families and small children.
Loud music usually began after sunset around 6pm and continued until around 6 in the morning, the applicant stated.
“Because the nerve racking music played late through the past night from the beach cottage in the coastal area, great trauma, harassment and disruption is caused by residents and, in fact, is the source of disruption to the residents of the area,” the petition said.
“Residents of Vagator and Anjuna cannot perform their normal function during the day or be able to sleep at night, which produce not only in the school of children who are disrupted, but also reduce the level of individual performance which results in a health and disruption danger of the normal life of the population And the surrounding villages in Anjuna and Vagator, affect their lives, “added the petition.
