Margao: In the fourth edition of the State Health Index for 2019-20 released by Niti Aayog on Monday, Goa dropped its ranking with two positions and moved from second place in the base year (2018-19) to Fourth Place in a reference year (2019-20 ) In the ‘overall performance’ in the category of “small state”.
Mizoram’s ranking above the Niti and Nagaland health index is at the bottom of the “small countries” in the year of reference (2019-20).
Three smaller states – Mizoram, Sikkim and Meghalaya increase their rankings in overall performance.
Nagaland continued to rank the lowest smaller state in the eighth position, the report stated.
Also, Goa, along the side of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur is four countries in the category that has registered negative incremental changes.
Goa registered the biggest decline of 12.7 percentage points in the health index score, while Mizoram and Meghalaya registered the maximum annual progress among the ‘small countries’.
Among the smaller four states that register a decrease in the scoring of the health outcome index, Goa has the biggest decline of 22.3 percentage points.
Goa also registered a decrease in governance and information domains, the report said.
