Panaji: Goa has received a doubtful difference to be among the four countries that have fallen away from the target of compensation affority.
The state only did 53.9% of what was stipulated to be achieved, put it in the Arunachal Pradesh League (53.8%), Jharkhand (54.2%) and Mizoram (31%).
Targets are governed by National Compensation Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (Campa), which conducts a review of the subject on October 29.
Goa’s achievements that are less than ideal here placing them far behind the national average of 88%.
In August, Goa Forest Officials had been seeking approval from Campa to refine compensation in Madhya Pradesh for lost forests in Goa.
State officials said that Madhya Pradesh had set aside land for Goa’s request purposes.
Goa requested an exception on the grounds of lack of land.
But national authorities have not approved the proposal.
Meanwhile, national authorities have now asked the state, including Goa, to complete all piles of afforestation compensation and reforestation of punitive compensation on March 31, 2023.
Goa has a 1,630 hectare deposit, and plans to carry out its target by implementing 500 hectares of land in 2021-22 , followed by 565 hectares in 2022-23 and 2023-24.
The state has an insult of 3.541 hectares so far.
In 2020-21, Goa spent RS 23 Crore Fund Campa for compensation afforestation.
National authorities noted that Goa monitored and evaluated its afforestation activities under Campa through an independent body, environmental education center.
The audit found that the survival rate of puppies planted for afforestation was 80% in cave, which was far better than other countries.
To be able to achieve a zero target for compensation afforestation balance, the countries have been asked to immediately start working, including nursery formation.
Countries have also been requested by the National Authority to submit their annual operating plan for the next financial year for Campa funds in advance, on December 31.
For plans received in December, the National Authority has said that it will give approval in a month.
So work can be done earlier.
National Authority also prepares guidelines for standardizing monitoring and evaluating insults taken under Campa funds.
