Panaji: After dismissing the application of the Goa Review Foundation for a six-month time limit, instead of the August 31 deadline, to complete the coastal zone management plan (CZMP) for Goa, NGT is set to hear another petition submitted by GOENTHEA RAPONKARACHO EKVOTT (GRE) And Goencho Ekvott for the postponement of the CZMP audience Thursday in North and South Goa.
They seek delays on the grounds that the fisheries planning committee, which was formed by the Department of Environment and Climate Change in March, has not completed the process of identifying a fisherman’s house to be included in the draft a comprehensive plan for the fisheries community living in the fisheries region.
It is scheduled to be completed in 60 days.
GRE and GOENCHO EKVOTT have raised fears that the committee report will not have legal sanctity if completed after public hearing ends.
The ownership of the committee was extended until September 30, 2021 since then, because the election code of ethics, the department cannot be a tender document to appoint a body to help the committee and therefore, he has not completed the process of identifying a fisherman’s house as per order set.
