Panaji: With the deadline of August 18 for taxis in Goa registered in the two and three series to install a digital meter, less than a quarter.
There are a total of 3,499 taxis registered in the 796 series that have been installed or booked for the device.
This means that 2,703 taxis tend to face the cancellation of their vehicle permits for failure to comply with the command of the Directorate of Transportation in accordance with the Bombay High Court in the direction of Goa.
“Fitment (for the remaining series) will continue and we obey the direction of the High Court,” said Director of Transportation, Rajan Satardekar to Ti.
There is a bad response to the suitability of the preceding series – the vehicle registered in the zero series to one – too.
There are 3,584 taxi operators in this series, but only 137 vehicles installed a digital meter before the deadline in July against 513 orders made to fit.
The Directorate of Transportation has published nearly 3,000 orders for cancellation of taxi licenses in the first zero series, Satardekar said.
Transportation Minister Mauvin Godinho said that permission from a taxi that default will be canceled if they fail to require directives with the due date.
The department will now take the next series in the line and set a new deadline for the same thing.
