PANAJI: Senior AICC election observer and former Finance Minister Union P Chidambaram arrived at Goa on Friday for this second official visit and held a meeting with nine newly appointed block presidents and Saliga Block Workers.
During the meeting, Congress workers told Chidambaram that the party must oppose the election that will come with his own strength.
“The main refrain is that the workers are sure to win the Saligao seat and they do not need an alliance with any party,” Congress spokesman Tulio de Souza said.
Chidambaram, along with the Goa table responsible for Dinesh Gundu Rao, opposition leader drawn for Kamat and President Girish Chodankar president present for the meeting, which was held at a hotel in Verm.
“Congress has been a victim throughout the cave due to defection, so the ticket must go to loyal congressional workers,” De Souza said.
Previously, Chidambaram met with nine-block president, including the Atul Saligao block up, to prepare a strategy to rebuild the party at the block and booth level.
The president of nine blocks was lifted again on August 31.
On Sunday, Chidambaram will participate in the meeting of the National Executive Committee of two Indian Youth Congress.
Indian Youth Congress National President B V Srinivas, and AICC Secretary Krishna Alavaru, who is the incharge of the National Youth Congress, will be present for the meeting.
This two-day meeting aims to impose a strategy to fight the Government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rao, Chodankar, Kamat and Congress of President Aleixo Sequeira’s work are expected to participate in the meeting.
“I am sure that the arrival of a national leader will definitely provide a big boost for youth congressional workers in Goa and will motivate them,” said President of the Mardolkar State Congress.
