Goa frame regulations to enable limited wild boar killings

PANAJI: In radical steps, the state government has enabled specific annihilings at the location of the wild boar in the land cultivated by the private sector, after the assessment and authorization by the Department of Forest officials.
While notice has brought a smile to the faces of farmers who complain about plant damage, have raised the protest link from activists, who accused the tool can be misused and “will only accelerate the extinction of human species and all life forms”.
Over the years, cave farmers have demanded that wild boars, peacocks and bison are expressed as vermin, accusing large losses in plants.
Notifications ratify the Deputy Forest Conservator for North and South Goa, which is a warden of wildlife, to allow controlled killings from wild boar based on farmers’ complaints.
The Head of the Forest Conservator Santosh Kumar said that the two officials had been delegated to the power to issue permits to hunt for wild animals after a visit to the site by the Range Forest Officer (RFO), along with farmers and a member of the Panchayat Village, and a Pancaama needed.
“There is no permission to be given to hunting wild pigs in the protected area or government forest area.
There is no permission to be given for the removal of Squeakers and Teens,” Order States.
In turn, RFO will send a detailed report, if the extermination is guaranteed, to Wardlife Warden, look for permission.
Permission – which will be given to experienced shooters – will for a certain period, will be specific to the site, and cannot be transferred.
Animal carcasses will belong to the government, and the disposal will be in accordance with the provisions of the wildlife law (protection), 1972, for scheduled animals, and every violation will invite criminal acts.
“There are no parts of wild animals that are removed such as meat, skin, tushes, trophies, etc., will be consumed, owned or displayed by anyone,” Order States.
The government’s move has disturbed activists and wildlifers, which blamed the Ministry of Forestry for the conflict of wildlife.
“The Forestry Department has proven that this is the greatest enemy of forests and wildlife, as well as locals,” said Abhijit Prabhudesai activist.
The department has failed to identify almost half of the Goa Forest to date, and reduced the holy zone of the Eco wildlife from 10 km to 1 km, he said.
“It also allows large-scale mining in Western Ghats, massive infrastructure projects curled up countries and industries, airports, real estate, and large institutions in the forest and in Plateaus,” Prabhudesai said.
Another wildlife fan, Edward Rodricks, former Wildlife Warden, said that the state has imposed many laws, but they are not always implemented and can be misused.
“By photographing these animals, we will immediately destroy them.
How can we allow other violators from hooks – those who have destroyed forests, animal habitats, and fragile environment for mere greed?” He asked him that farmers had to establish infrastructure for keep their plants.
“It means like making a loud or broken sound to drive out wild animals.
But farmers leave their fields,” Rodricks said.
Prabhudesai said that restoring forests is very important to resolve the conflict of wildlife and the survival of our children.
“We must restore and restore forests and plateau to them and the local community after stopping all destructive activities,” he said.
