Panaji: Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that the state government had decided to build a new bridge in Paikul at a cost of Rs 12.5 Crore.
The bridge was washed away because of the recent flood in Valpoi.
Sawant said that the bridge will be built through the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC).
Sawant said that GSIDC would immediately form a bidder that invited tender.
The main minister said that people whose homes were damaged had to provide some evidence of identity to get financial support from the government to reconstruct their homes, while those who did not have evidence, the country would check the cases and make the right decision.
Sawant said that the houses flattened in the flood will be reconstructed with the budget of RS 4 Lakh.
The state government will provide RS 2 Lakh to those who have lost their homes in floods and Rotary International will contribute Rs 2 lakh to the same thing, he said.
Sawant said that 93 houses will be reconstructed as part of this assistance program.
