PANAJI: Goa has submitted Affidavit before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) looking for a three-month extension to complete the draft plan of coastal zone management (CZMP) for the state, Minister of Environment Nilesh Cabral to Ti.
The court has set August 31, 2021, as a time limit for the cave to complete the CZMP.
“We have asked for three more months, which until the end of November.
Even though we have been looking for three months, we plan to complete the CZMP early.
I have asked officials to complete at the beginning of the verification work and land truthing based on objections and suggestions received on the plan .
The work is underway and will be finished soon, “said Cabral.
Cabral previously said that Goa planned to find an extension for only one month, but he said on Tuesday that the state wants to find a three-month time as a precautionary measure to ensure this time limit.
Goa held a public hearing on July 8, where he received around 8,000 objections and suggestions on the CZMP draft.
Job verifying this input is currently carried out by various government departments.
“I have told the officials that they had to verify in the field,” said Minister, suggested that the state did not want to take this time possibility.
The public hearing held by the State on March 7 this year was rejected by most residents and the Goa Foundation approaching NGT showing various deficiencies in the hearing method held.
Based on this application, NGT asked the state to carry out a fresh audience and set August 31 as a deadline for resolving CZMP Goa.
Thus, another public hearing was held on July 8.
The latest extension until November 2021 is sought by the government will become the fourth extension requested by the state.
