PANAJI: The state government on Wednesday granted his approval for the procurement of two bulletproof vehicles, which Goa police will use for VVIPS and VIPs who visit the country.
The proposal has lied with the government for almost three years.
The Country Cabinet has approved a retrofit of two vehicles into bullet-resistant bullets for Goa Police at a cost of Rs 65.9 lakh, based on nominations.
Goa police are currently dependent on Maharashtra or Karnataka for bulletproof vehicles when fighters visit the country.
More than 500 VIPs visit Goa every year.
The highest VIP movements during the Christmas and New Year period.
Goa police approve protection under several categories – Z +, Z, Y +, Y, X, DT, etc.
Meanwhile, the State Cabinet also approved the construction of a new building for the police post in Betim.
The Country Cabinet also gave approval to involve services from the Institute of Wood Services Technology under the Indian Forest Research and Education Council, with a nomination, to monitor the plantation activity of 5 Lakh trees under the County Biodiversity Council (GSBB) connected to the Mopa Airport.
The government has entrusted GSBB to plant 5 lakh puppies for five years as a reforestation of compensation as a substitute for trees cut down, and also per action plan approved for plantations for the same thing.
The state government also approved the transfer of government land to PWD for the Mopa freeway.
The State Cabinet also approved the appointment of Shirish Lawande as a member, the authority of the country’s police complaints.
