Panaji: To bring a country under the EV charging station network to increase the sale of electric vehicles, the state government has compiled a cave electric vehicle infrastructure policy.
A senior officer said that through government policies wanted to establish a charging station in the parking lot and government buildings.
Officers said that they had accepted objections and suggestions on policies and after considering the same thing, the policy would be placed before the cabinet for the final approval.
Global EV technology is considered a game changer in the transportation sector.
It offers advantages such as environmentally friendly, cheaper fuel costs, lower maintenance costs, energy efficiency and security improvement, said senior officers.
The central government has instituted various policies that make it possible to promote the development of the charging infrastructure network.
Senior Officers said that the contextual approach is needed to ensure efficient and timely EV charging infrastructure implementation, so as to meet local requirements and optimally integrated in electrical supply and transportation networks.
To reduce carbon footprint, the state government has decided to provide subsidies for 11,000 electric vehicles every year for a period of five years.
Subsidies will be limited to Rs 25 Crore every year.
Subsidies will be given based on the first task coming first, senior official said.
Subsidies will be disbursed in one installment that is 100% for the purchase of vehicles and production of purchase documents – RC and insurance books.
