CALANGUTE: Shop owned by Calangute Constitution Forum (CCF) Clotildes Braganza, preserved in a broken fire on Monday night.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
Braganza, a former member of Calangute Panchayat, has alleged that the store along with kiosks who sell women and vegetables located in the Calangute market caught fire in retaliation for him who spoke against Panchayat members.
On Monday, CCF members, including Braganza, have submitted a complaint against Calangute Pancayat members for allegedly threatening and misusing Sapnesh Vaigankar, a forum member, on Saturday.
“Our social activists took a lot of problems about the villagers.
On Monday afternoon, we went to the police station to file a complaint against Panchayat members because they misused one of our members.
At 8:50 a.m., I got a call that my shop was on fire,” Braganza said.
“When the workers closed the store, they turned off the electricity, so short circuit could not cause fire.
If there is a short circuit, the shop next to me will also burn.
This happened because of hostility.
I have complained to the police and asking them to make me justice,” said Braganza.
He estimated losses to Rs 4 Lakh.
Meanwhile, the former Sarpanch Calangute Joseph Sequeira, condemned what he called as the use of muscle strength by Panchayat members on critical activists on their functions.
