Panaji: Porvorim police arrested three people on Monday night in connection with the alleged doctor’s attack after the death of a newborn on Saturday.
Deputy Supervisor of Police (DYSP) Edwin Colaco said that Porvorim police arrested Rohish Salgaonkar, 27, Krishna rose, 32, and Rohil Salgaokar, all residents of Porvorim.
He said that they accompanied the main charges in the case in the hospital.
Meanwhile, around 100 doctors from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) -Goa protested at the Porvorim police station on Monday demanding action against the main charges.
They have warned tool-down protests if the defendant was not arrested within 24 hours.
The brotherhood doctor questioned why the defendant had not been arrested even three days after the attack, and said that if the timely action was not taken there to be a repetition of the incident.
They have also questioned why the police did not think it was important to ask the provisions of Medicare service personnel and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Losses for Property) ACT, 2013.
On Saturday, the DR Amol rates’ rates have submitted a complaint that the defendant has been attack him at his clinic in Porvorim after his newborn baby died.
Porvorim police have registered violations, but under the provisions of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC).
The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Goa, President, Dr.
Vinayak Buvaji said that even though the defendant was at the police station, the police did not arrest him.
“The police have convinced us that he will be arrested,” he said.
The doctors will restart their protest on Wednesday if the defendant is not arrested.
Protestor met Colaco and Police Inspector (PI) Ninad Deulkar, responsible for the Porvorim police station, to find out the progress made in an investigation into the attack case.
Colaco told the doctor that the investigation was moving in the right direction.
“I assure you that there is no injustice to be done.
The action will be under the provisions of the 2013 Law”.
He said the defendant could be arrested at any time.
“We are afraid of doing our job when we are attacked while doing work.
If the police do not protect us, who will,” said Dr.
Vardhan Bhobe, who was among the protesters.
Other doctors say that if their request is not fulfilled, all health care systems will be closed.
“The police will be responsible for people who do not meet their health needs,” he said.
The private nursing home association has extended support at the IMA initiative.
It was said that even though doctors and hospitals were protected under the 2013 Medicare Law, the community did not realize it.
“Provisions under the law bring severe punishment for violations of doctors or health facilities.
Provisions must be applied to punish the defendant in this case,” the association of private nursing homes, Goa, President, said Dr Milind Colvalcar.
