Goa: ICOM goes into WhatsApp for the weather-related agro advisor

PANAJI: In a new movement, the wise whosapp group of villages has been made by Icar-Goa to provide weather-based information and agro advisors to the agricultural community based on estimates received from the district agro-met unit (DAMU) which are jointly determined by the Meteorology Department India (IMD) and Icar-Goa under the Gramin Krishi Seva (GKMS) Scheme.
This initiative resulted in nearly 6,000 farmers who received information related to weather and advisors Agro.
The center of Damu is located in Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Old Goa and includes five North Goa Talukas – Bardez, Bicholim, Pernem, Sattari and Tiswadi.
“Weather and climate information play an important role in agricultural production and management.
Agro-advisory services are agricultural decisions taken in response to previous weather changes, today and the future.
They include agronomy, management of pests and diseases, water and land conservation, Seeds and management of fertilizer input, spraying insecticides, pesticides and weedicides, etc.
It is ensured that in the future, the same will reach more farmers who can benefit through this service.
“The new cave-based ICAR-CCARI is stated.
It helps farmers to make sensitive decisions related to weather, such as sowing or transplant seeds, use of pesticides, weedilides and fertilizers among others.
