Panaji: The government department often takes tree plantations in public spaces such as parks and gardens, by the beach, along the road and by the banks of the river and lake.
To ensure that this is helpful and in accordance with local ecology, Goa is set to get the norm to standardize practice.
The Bombay High Court in Goa recently issued direction to the State Tree Authority to set a standard specified for planting and maintaining these trees in public places.
Authority has established a technical committee assigned to study practices in other countries and framing guidelines for government departments in Goa to follow the tree plantation.
“The technical committee can take this work and after studying all aspects, guidelines / norms, case studies on various countries, can submit a comprehensive report on November 30, 2021,” the tree authority said.
Authority has also decided that starting now only greater puppies must be planted as part of compensation afforestation.
Every agent who takes infrastructure projects, such as road construction, etc., must also plant adult puppies to ensure a better survival of the factory.
Installing at least 8-10 high feet will also ensure that the loss of trees is compensated in a shorter period, the tree authority said.
“The Committee also considers it, to compensate for the loss of each tree in the shortest time, the practice of planting small puppies is generally followed by a user agent, can be discouraged.
To compensate for losses at the beginning of the user body may be recommended to plant high puppies with good durability with good durability with 8-10 feet height and 10cm diameter with a height of one meter from the ground, “said the tree authority.
The committee in the report will attract a list of trees that are suitable for each type of terrain in the state and the forestry department will ensure that compensation afforestation is carried out using tree species according to this report.
Monitoring the afforestation of compensation will be carried out by forest officials.
The Committee will include experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Country Biodiversity Council, the Botanic Department of Goa University, Forestry Department, Goa Wetland Authority, PWD and WRD.
After the reports ready on November 30, will be sent to the Ministry of Forestry, which will get approval for the norms from the government for implementation.
From now on, for each project that requires tree logging, it will also be ascertained that tree transplants that need to be removed from the location are carried out as far as possible, authority said.
“Agent users can be advised to transplant trees as far as deserving the criteria including age, height, thickness, edaphic factor, root development, etc.
Transplantation must always be done through an expert agent / company that has experience in the relevant field to ensure that transplantation is done With minimum damage to the tree and the maximum survival percentage, “authority said.
