Ponda: A 19-year-old woman who rejected a ride from a two-wheeled driver in Kawlem, Ponda, was attacked by him and claimed to be to the sub-district hospital on Thursday.
Police are looking for Omkar Kavlekar, 25, from Varbhat-Kawlem.
He was not arrested until Friday night the teenager was alone at the Capileshwari bus stop waiting for the bus when he approached him and offered him a ride.
However, he refused the offer.
Irked, Kavlekar allegedly pulled him with his hair and dropped him to the ground, causing his injury.
He then escaped from the scene.
The teenager then called his family to ask for help, and they then filed a complaint to the Ponda police.
The police did not register a violation on Thursday because they first wanted to arrest him.
However, after increasing pressure, Kavlekar was booked on Friday.
The case below section 323, 324 (causing illness), and 354 (using the style that intends to prevent politeness) from the IPC has been registered.
Ponda Pi Mohan Gaude said that the police were together with the family looking for the defendant, but he could not be traced.
Because the incident came after several crimes against young women, there was a strong reaction from politicians.
“Day after day, Goa dropped into the violation of the law,” said President GFP Vijai Sardesai.
Slamming the government, he said that there was no intention to take a serious salvation of women.
Cynically, he asked if it was a girl who had to blame in this case.
“I asked CM @Drpramod Sawant who was wrong? Is that the girl? Or is that the government’s actions that fail to protect?”
