Goa: In the midst of Covid’s fear, a specialist warned about the cancer of the final stage

Panaji: Even when people spared to see their doctors during a pandemic because of the fear of the Covid-19 contract, a specialist throughout the country has sounded a warning that many cancer patients have brought late – even though they knew something drastically wrong with their health.
With a delay in diagnosis throughout the year and the start of medical treatment, many have lost recovery opportunities, they feel.
“Fear of pandemic is very high so people take all the other complaints lightly.
Every day, I see new cancer patients,” said Dr.
Jose Filipe Alvares, a senior gastroenterologist and endoscopy.
Alvares said that people should not ignore the smallest symptoms, and say that as long as someone wore a mask and was vaccinated, there was no reason to fear visiting a doctor.
Another gastroenter.
Dr Harish Peshwe said that it was not only the number of patients who had been worrying, but the stage they faced.
Their delays, often until everything becomes too bad, is the consequences of their fear of Covid.
In Goa, digestive tract cancer is normal, with malignancy in the large intestine, stomach and the liver only behind breast cancer in the prevalence.
“Intestine cancer cannot be treated, but when a patient reports to the advanced stage of the disease, the operation option is not available, and no patients tend to bear chemotherapy.
If not, we operate even in seventy plus patients,” he said.
“Unfortunately, cancer does not rest during a pandemic,” said The Mayo Clinic.
“Previous cancer was detected, the better the opportunity for successful care.” ONCOLOGY Dr.
Eugene rent said that the development of cancer from stage-0 to me was slow, and even from the second stage-I was not fast, but after that, “it will be fast forward”.
“We see many patients who entered Stage-IV, and the delay was due to their fear of Covid-19,” said the rent.
Ironically, some patients who went to the hospital for Covid care were finally diagnosed with malignancy after ekocardiogram or CT scan.
“When asked about delays, they said they chose to go home because Covid,” he said.
“I have seen at least 15 patients over the past few months diagnosed with breast cancer when they come for covid care.” In one case the feared delay was driven, the rent said that he recently saw a patient diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
The patient refused to undergo treatment for fear of the potential for the third wave.
“The patient came home without treatment even when he was advised that he might not live to see the third wave, like and when it happened, if he chose to stay without treatment,” he said.
