PANAJI: Goa is likely to receive heavy rainfall in isolated places on Tuesday, even when a strong southwest monsoon contributed to the short rain spells for the past 24 hours.
The rain gauge station in Sanguem himself reported 77mm rainfall, while the Quepem and Pernem Station received a slightly lower amount.
On Monday, the cumulative rainfall above Goa is five percent above normal.
Rain that is consistently expected to continue in the coming days as well, according to estimates by the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Panaji.
The IMD has warned that Goa can watch with very heavy rainfall, exceeding 11.5 cm in 24 hours.
The reason for rainfall activities has been linked to the formation of a low pressure area above Bay Bay.
It increases to depth depression on Monday and win over the coast of Odisha.
“It is expected to move north over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
Because of this system, wind surface is stronger than last week, with a speed of 15-20 knots,” said scientist IMD Rahul M, said.
Meteorologists hope that the low pressure area above Bengal Bay will increase to depression and bring rain to the peninsula which has received poor rainfall in August because there is no convection system formed in the Arab Sea or Bengal Bengal.
This has caused Monsun Monsun in August ending with a deficit record.
“One reason for the resurrection of the rainy season on the west coast of Indi, is because of the low pressure areas and systems formed in the Arab Sea and Bay of Bengal,” Meteorology said Met Ramesh Kumar.
