Goa: Landslide Incident Rises in Sattari After the recent floods

Keri: The heavy rainy monsoon during the last week of July has caused a landslide increase in various parts of Sattari Taluka.
Recently, landslides have occurred in Zarme and Satre, and this has been associated with disruption in the natural stability of the slopes.
When the population of the village of Zarme visited their cashew plantations, they saw landslides that had damaged the plantation.
Destabilization of the slope has caused the cracking crack, and this finally worsened the landslide.
Speaking to Toi, Kalpesh Alone from Zarme, said, “Heavy rains triggered landslides in the Zarme area.
This might be due to saturation with rainwater infiltration.
Cashew plantations which are a vital source of livelihoods have been very affected.
Intense rainfall has caused cracks Growing in a careless area, so it leads to landslides.
“Sattari Mamlatdar Dasharath Gawas has directed officials of the Zonal Valpoi agriculture office to visit the affected areas and submit reports on the losses suffered by the villagers.
Another landslide incident occurred at Satre of Nagargao Panchayat.
Recently, when the villagers traveled on track from Satre to Parwad, they noticed that most of the land had moved down along with rocks and debris, causing landslides.
Three decades ago, these areas were under Kumeri’s cultivation, the primitive slash burned agricultural practice.
This year, when heavy rains resulted in landslides, these areas lost vegetative vegetative structures, soil nutrition and soil structure because slash burned agricultural practices.
Therefore, this has disrupted the slope, so that it immediately induces landslides.
Landslides have also occurred in Caranzol, Wazale, area on cashewale, where trees have been revoked and vegetation has been degraded.
Subodh rises, a volunteer of Viveekanand Environmental Awareness, who often visits Sattari forest, “increases deforestation, the elimination of deep rooted vegetation and the afforestation of monoculture species has most parts of the land.
Heavy rainfall increases erosion frequency in areas that have been degraded, so that Causing landslides.
