Vasco: Residents of Cansaulim Village and Arossim on Tuesday stopped and revoked the fence work carried out by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) in Cansaulim along the train station.
Local Mla Alina Saldanha called RVNL General Manager S B Sahoos to immediately stop the job and ask for RVNL to remove all the poles established to the railroad boundary in Cansaulim.
Joint Secretary Goencho Ekvott Olencio Simoes stated that the South Western Railway (SWR) in collaboration with RVNL continues to carry out activities without fear of land law.
“When we asked train officials about their legitimate permits, they could not provide details, but they forcibly entered without permission in our land and also cut our trees,” he said.
Velsao-Pale-Issorcim and Cansaulim-Arossim-Cuelim Panchayat have passed the resolution of rejecting the process of land acquisition in their jurisdiction, but the train authority forced the acquisition of the villagers, said Simoes.
