PANAJI: Residents Melauli on Monday threatened to demand the government if it failed to withdraw the cases of efforts to kill children and restore the land given to the IIT-Goa within 15 days.
Referring to the guarantee of the Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant that the land given to the IIT-Goa will be returned again, Guleli Panch Shashikant Sanvordekar said, “Until now, the land is not legally returned.” “We have given a letter to CM and other authorities to draw efforts to kill cases and return the land to their original position.
If the state government does not act on our demands, then again, people will begin agitation.” Sanvordekar said.
Locals said that the police had ordered 40 people in an effort to kill cases and even though there were representations to different authorities, no response.
Because cases have also been ordered to students, many locals are worried about the future of these children.
Sanvordekar said that Local Mla Vishwangit Rane had not met with people after the government announced to get the Iit-Goa in Melauli.
“Should MLA meet people only during the election time?” Sanvordekar said.
The locals say that they will not go to Rane to discuss those problems and but MLA must come if he demands us.
In January 2021, Sawant accessed the request of the local population of the community to shift the project from their village.
“The decision to shift the project was taken to remember the sentiments of the people and the request of the Minister of Health Vishwajit Rane, who was also a local MLA, and local representatives,” Sawant said.
The government’s movement to cancel the project in Melauli was the highlight of a six-month agitation by the population.
To avoid controversy in front of the upcoming assembly selection, the state government will not make a decision to complete the land for the IIT campus in Goa.
The current institute functions from Farmagudi in Ponda Taluka.
Because cases have also been ordered to students, many locals are worried about the future of these children.
