PANAJI: Minister of Goa and Mla Govind Gaude on Tuesday resigned from the Assembly membership and arranged to join BJP.
Gaude, MLA is independent of the priol, has supported the state government led by BJP since 2017 and is part of the Cupboard of Manohar Parragar and Pramod Sawant.
“I respect the invitation extended by BJP to join them.
I have been with them for the past five years and have worked with them,” he said.
Gaude is the art and culture and Minister of Tribal Welfare.
“As independent, I have realized that there are certain difficulties.
When you are in a political party, the organization is there to support you.
The workforce is very important,” said Gaude, defending the move.
The legislator said he would join BJP later on.
“I have decided to join political parties.
I have personal interest because in my constituency, there is no support for each political party other than BJP,” he added.
Last month, three sitting Mlaas Ravi rose (Congress), Jayesh Salgaonkar (Goa forward) and Rohan Khaunte (Independent) joined BJP ahead of the upcoming state assemblies, which will be held on February 14.
