Panaji: After he was rejected by Candidature on two occasions by Goa BJP, which was built by his father and former Minister of Manohar Parragar, Utpal Parragar on Friday announced that he would oppose the “high risk” of 2022 elections as independent candidates from Panaji, his father’s constituency represents during More than two decades.
He also resigned as a BJP member and as a member of the National MSME board, but said he would “always have BJP in my heart”.
Utpal said he was rejected by BJP tickets despite support from party workers and Panaji people.
The party has thrown MLA sitting, the ‘Babush’ monsoorrate, as its candidate.
“I don’t think this decision comes from the Parrikar Party,” he said.
“Candidature has been given to someone who is opportunized to come to a party two years ago.
Because of this situation, I have no choice but to stand up for the values believed to be my father and to continue and let Panaji people decide my political fate,” Utpal , which has started its door-to-door campaign in constituency, said.
He had held three rounds of discussion after he threw his hat on the ring – twice with the National President of BJP J P Nadda and once with home Minister Amit Shah.
He said he had tried to convince BJP on two occasions – during Bypoll 2019 and now – that he enjoyed support from all workers who had built a party for the past 30 years and Panaji people.
He was rejected by nomination in 2019 and Parragar near Sidharth Kuncalienker was declared a BJP candidate for Panaji instead.
By stating that his father represents Panaji for more than two decades because of the love and affection of Panaji people, Utpal said, “Even I have developed a similar bond.
People do not choose Parragar just because he is Parragar.
They choose and support him because he stands for Some grades.
Now, the time has come to me to stand up for those values.
It’s not about getting some posts or just becoming MLA or minister.
I can’t negotiate with my party.
I will never do that.
“Utpal denied it has been Receive offers from other political parties.
“Thoughts about other political parties don’t even appear in my mind.
I have to give choices to Goa people and Panaji.
If they reject me, I will accept it.
I will always have BJP in my heart,” he said.
“As far as political parties, the only platform available to me is BJP and other platforms fight as independent, which I have to do, unfortunately, in this situation.” He, however, made his choice openly about extending support if BJP formed the next state government.
“I will put this option before Goa people at the right time,” he said.
Meanwhile, various political parties, including AAP and Shiv Sena, have extended support to Utpal in Panaji.
“Every support needed to fight candidates (Panaji) I have always been accepted.
The minister’s chief himself told the Panaji people about the Monserrate Sheet during Bypoll when he was a Congress Candidate,” he said.
“I want to give people who are good, honest and educated, and one with integrity.”
