PANAJI: Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area (FOGA) Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil was awarded ATI Vishisht Seva (AVSM) medal by President RAM Nath Kovind at the Investiture ceremony in the National Capital on Monday.
Pynumootyl is responsible for naval flight training, flight safety, aircrew categorization, and logistical support from naval flights.
He has been given a prestigious award for a leading service from the extraordinary order when issuing his job as a flag officer for the Naval Goa area.
Aviation Naval Officer Flag is a class authority for naval aircraft and equipment.
He was awarded the ATI Wishisht Seva medal during his current term, with the announcement coming earlier this year in January.
Rear Admiral functions as the president director, aircraft acquisition, and assistant chief of naval staff (air), during that period, he oversees the induction of eight Boeing P81 supervisory planes, 45K combat jets, and 17 Hawk coach planes.
He also pitched the conclusion of important contracts including follow-up commands for four Boeing P8i, P8I simulator, 16 advanced light helicopters, 12 Dornier Maritime Supervisory aircraft, and a medium-temperal increase for 10 Helicopters of War Anti-ship submarines 28 KAMOV.
The quality pilot wing rotary, he was on duty during the Pawan Operation in Sri Lanka (1989) and Hope Operation Restore in Somalia (1993).
