Goa: new CCP policy rationalized sanitation costs

PANAJI: Getting rid of sanitation rates remain arbitrary for all commercial companies in the city, the corporation of Panaji City (CCP) has launched a new sanitation policy.
The proposed sanitation costs, collected in accordance with CCP solid waste (management and handling) by the 2019 Act, will benefit small traders and restaurants while imposing higher costs on the guesthouse and vehicle service center.
The proposed revision comes in the background of the Goa Commerce and Industrial Studies (GCCI) which discovered that the cost of a collection of solid waste from the door to the door is based on ad-hoc, without a relationship with the waste produced.
“The CCP has proposed to change the schedule I Sanitation Charges,” said Commissioner CCP Agnelo Fernandes.
“The draft amendment has been uploaded on the CCP website.” Under new policies, restaurants will be charged rs 20 per square meter per month based on the kitchen area and dining room.
Banks, financial institutions will be charged at 10 per square meter per square meter while a small commercial company will pay Rs 5 per square meter with a minimum cost of RS 150.
The house will continue to be charged by Rs 50 per month for the garbage collection from the door to the door.
The CCP has also maintained sanitation costs for hospitals, clinics, pathological laboratories, canteens and gasoline pumps unchanged.
“Those who are willing to share suggestions can download the Draft from the CCP website and submit it in writing on or before August 3,” Fernandes said.
