Panaji: Despite finding 570 Cu MTs from the sand extracted during the raid, the flying squad for North Goa has not found “active illegal sand mining activities” when he examined 40 strange sites between April and July, the High Court was told.

The High Court called for a report from officers after receiving a complaint that there was no action taken against illegal sand mining in North Goa.
A complainant also wrote to the court who gave the sand extraction place that occurred.
On the contrary, the officers who were appointed to South Goa and Dharbandora’s deputy collector, the kedar rose to the High Court that he confiscated 28 canoes that were not registered, ten trucks, five suction pumps attached to canoes and one JCB machine.
The confiscated canoe was handed over to Captain Port to act.
Three people were also arrested under Section 379 IPC for theft of public goods.
Raids in South Goa are carried out on various sites in Ponda, Sanguem, Quepem and Currorim.
The two officers stated that the register was maintained from the complaints received.

If illegal sand extraction is found, the extracted sand is thrown back into the river.
