Goa: No Special Drunken Drive on New Year’s Eve

PANAJI: This year’s traffic cell will not actively examine driving drivers on new year’s eve because of the surge in Covid-19 cases in the state.
This was for the second time in a row that traffic police held themselves because they took action against violations because of the pandemic because it needed an alcometer use or test analyzer test.
“It is very difficult to measure who is infected and who is not alcometer.
Using the device will be at risk, because we might spread the virus to others,” said Deputy Inspector (DYSP) Traffic, North Goa, Salim Shaikh.
However, he said cell traffic would continue to maintain visual vigil for traffic violations and book cases.
“The drivers are seen driving rash or pampering in riding behaviors that are at risk of being ordered,” he added.
Every year, 300 strange people are booked for driving drunk on New Year’s Eve.
