PANAJI: In the midst of talks about leadership changes and phaxis in the Goa Congress Unit, Senior All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer P Chidambaram arrived in Goa on Wednesday for a two-day official visit.
The former Minister of Finance held a series of meetings in the Goa International Center, Dona Paula, in an effort to take stock of party readiness to take BJP in the 2022 State Assembly poll.
Congress officials told Chidambaram that the party needs to immediately overcome differences of opinion about the leadership of the President of Girish Chodankar to revive the party’s political wealth.
Chidambaram, along with the goa desk responsible at Dinesh Gundu Rao, is in Goa to assess the political situation and formulate the election strategy for future polls.
The head of AICC observer Prakash Rathod is also in Goa.
“Chidambaram is a leader of individual meetings, and the head of the organization to take reviews and prepare the party for elections.
It is important to continue the unity.
Congress ticket requests have increased, which means that the party’s prospect is strong,” Rao said.
AICC is expected to make decisions about the party’s president in four to five days, say some state congress functionaries.
Congressional state units wrestle with conflict, eternal issues, with Chodankar face strong opposition from legislators and party officials.
Chodankar has resigned from post twice, but AICC has not received his resignation.
Party workers from Sanguem, Ponda and other constituencies openly criticized Chodankar’s performance as Head of the State Unit.
“Almost everyone who spoke with Chidambaram gave their input and thought of the president of the party, the alliance for the election and selection of candidates who will come for the upcoming election,” said a senior Congress official who met Chidambaram.
The former Minister of Finance held a closed door meeting with a frontal organization, GPCC member, MLA, former MLA and others to try and understand the sentiments of party workers.
Ponda Mla Ravi rose to improve when asked about his meeting with Chidambaram.
Who wanted to admit that he had warned the party’s high command of “betrayal who could never be trusted” at the party.
“The agenda is a situation in the state.
He came to judge it,” said Poriem Mla and former Pratapsingh Main Minister Rane after his meeting with Chidambaram.
Rane claims that Chidambaram does not talk about party leadership problems or about the possibility of alliances.
“I am satisfied with the discussion that I have with Chidambaram.
We have several discussions about the organization, how to do the next election, and the coalition.
I gave my view pointing to him.
He will examine them.
No one is able to lose more time,” said Former UNI Minister Ramakant Khalap.
Calangute block workers also met Rao and opposite by moving to induce Calangute Mla Michael Lobo to Congress.
Rao reportedly convinced party workers that “original Congress workers will get tickets” for the Calangute chair in the upcoming election.
