Goa: plastic under 75 microns is banned from September 30, said Minister of Nilesh Cabral

PANAJI: The Ministry of Environment Union on Thursday issued a notification that will begin the process of prohibiting single use plastic throughout the country.
The complete ban will take effect from July 1, 2022.
But plastic use of single use will be banned in the phase starts with a bag below 75 microns from September 30.
At present, there is a ban on the use of plastic bags under 50 microns of the state, which has now been upgraded to 75 microns.

Notifications also have, for the first time, defined ‘single plastic use’ and identify the item.
According to the notice, it will be the responsibility of the local agency to implement the ban and by ensuring separation, collection, storage, transportation, processing and disposal of plastic waste.
