Goa: Filipe Nery Rodrigues has served as minister in Congress and the BJP Government, so it is not surprising that in the velim election, he is seen as a major political strategy.
Since 1999, Nery has won four elections, three of which are on congressional tickets and once as independent candidates.
Now, for the first time in 20 years, he fought without the sound of a traditional Congress in his pocket, especially complicated because of his leap to BJP in 2019 which had left skeptical voters about how loyal he could live in NCP, his new party.
“He can be the only MLA chosen on NCP tickets and can then say he wants to combine it with BJP,” said Social Activist Anthony D’Silva said in the virus audio.
In Velim, BJP has lowered his own candidates, Savio Rodrigues, who, recognized by locals, has allowed Nery to convince at least some of his intention to live in NCP.
Rodrigues has traveled from Mumbai to Goa and, even though he called himself the son of the land, most of the constituents knew a little or not at all about him, except for some hyperactive on social media.
In the constituency dominated by Catholicism, it did not help Rodrigues that the video commented on the church was doing a round.
For those who see alternatives have had four terms-velim Sarpanch Savio d’Silva (Congress) and Cruz Silva (AAP) getting fast ground in many parts of the election, say observers.
“Post Nery out of Congress in 2019, Savio has worked consistently for the past two and a half years for a party,” said an observer.
“He supports candidates and ensures his victory in Zilla Panchayat’s poll, one of only three wins for Congress in South Goa.
Savio has a party’s voice to continue to the bank, while the base itself will add part.” Congress candidates are believed to be very popular among youth parts.
However, D’Silva must fend off Cruz Silva and TMC Benjamin Silva from eating into the sound.
Cruz is an engineer by the profession and is seen as a ‘clean’ choice, with a reputation to defeat other candidates, including Congress.
“Cruz continued his work in Velim even after his defeat to the 2017 poll when he was third with 3,423 votes.
He has participated with people in all important and fixed agitations with AAP,” said a local.
Benjamin, the only candidate who has defeated Nery, in 2012, will be difficult this time.
One revenge against him was that he was considered to have walked away with TMC tickets from the right under the nose Antonio Clovis da Costa, a young lawyer who was the first to join Luizinho Faleiro.
In all elections, some said Nery was not a politician who entered the young adult population as well as generations before them.
But no one knows better than him to win the election in Velim.
“He is a political strategist for Par Excellence and recognizes voters by name after years as representatives,” said other villagers.
“He has a fixed sound bank and does not need to knock on the door to the door.
Without the Congress (Voice), he will not make it easier, but his relationship with constituents is undeniable.”
