Panaji: After a lot of running and even announced his decision to remain not tied to any party, Mla Rohan Khaunte is independent, Porvorim is likely to join BJP immediately.
Khaunte, who had tempted by Congress even sent his supporters to join the party only to ask them to resign from his main membership, seem to have made a decision after he went ahead of his supporters to join BJP.
“We have advised him to join BJP,” Sandeep Salgaonkar, Panch Of Salvador-Do-Mundo and Audo trusted Khaunte, told TI after supporters and Khaunte meetings.
For the record, Khaunte told Tii: “I will take the final decision on Wednesday.” But a BJP senior official confirmed that Khaunte joined them and said the date of his induction would be decided after CM returned from Varanasi on Wednesday.
Khaunte was dropped by Sawant from the cabinet in 2019 Senior Formalary, said the decision to accommodate Khhaunte-Mla Mlain twice from Porvorim – was taken after he met the BJP Incharge selection for Goa, Devendra Fadnivis, during his recent visit.
After his conversation with a failed Congress, Khaunte has announced that he will compete as Independent MLA.
But the day after, he gave a broad instructions that he wanted to be part of the powerful dispensation, when he was tweeted: “Being part of the government always facilitates the development of my constituencies and strategies for the election that will be based on this consultation with my people.” During the latest assembly selection, the former Minister of Main Manohar Parragar has campaigned widely in Porvorim against Khaunte.
But as soon as the results are declared, Khaunte, who won the chair, the support expanded to Parmika helped him form a coalition government.
Khaunte was made by the Minister of Revenue for his support.
Even after the death of Parragar, Khaunte continued to support the Sanghantled Government Pramod and remained a minister of income until he fell from the cabinet in 2019 after the induction of 10 Congress MLA became BJP.
