Keri: Youth from Goa and Maharashtra recently together participated in natural orientation workshops in Aainode, where they promised to protect the biodiversity of the Tillari region.
Fanashri Foundation, Vivekanand Environmental Awareness of Brigade, Keri, and the Department of Forest Maharashtra jointly held the workshop.
In the morning session, young people collect, separate and take steps needed to dispose of a large number of plastic waste, tetra packages, rubber and other waste found around the reservoir area left by tourists.
Wildlifer Girish Punjabi made the participants aware of the wealth of biodiversity and the Tillari region ecosystem and oriented to youth about how they could contribute to regional protection and conservation.
Ramesh Zarmekar talks about various species of birds found in the region.
He also talked about how wetland protection was very important to maintain bird diversity.
Another WoLligiger, Rahul Khanolkar, highlighted the role of the bat in the environment and gave a briefing to the participants about their habitat.
Dodoamarg Range Forest Officer Madan Kshirsagar praised the efforts of the participants in the drive of plastic collection and explained how it was necessary to protect tigers to be able to maintain ecological balance, food chains and water sources.
Participants are also sensitive about the Eco-Culture and Heritage of Archaeo’s history from Tillari Bio-region through the presentation.
