MARGAO: A 21-year-old resident of Quepem was detained by the Quepem authorities on Sunday for allegedly raping a six-year-old woman.
Police sources stated that the incident happened on Friday and the accused had been known to the herd.
The youth has been detained under section 376 (rape) in the Penal Code, part 8 of the Goa Children’s Act and part 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
He was created before the local court which remanded him three-day police custody.
