Bicholim: Head of the Pramod Minister Sawant on Sunday lay down the foundation stone for the RS 16-Crore project to pump water in closed holes, stagnant for years, and use it for agricultural purposes.
The ceremony was held in Surla and Velguems in Bicholim for this project.
It will be useful about 1,000 farmers in the mining belt.
Sawant said the government aims to bring the green revolution in the state by launching this best project throughout the country.
CM said that the project would be funded through the Main Minister of the District Mineral Fund told that the water that stagnates around 10 mining holes would be more than the availability of the Dam Reservoir Anjunem.
“If this water is channeled using modern techniques, around 350 hectares will be under the green zone,” he said.
Sawant announced that this project will be funded through district mineral funds.
He said that the project would be handled by private agents for the first three years and then the government would train local farmers to assume responsibility.
