Goa: Sattari Ryots threatens to stir the delayed Aid Agro

VALPOI: Sattari Taluka farmers have threatened agitation if compensation for agricultural losses is not paid to them before Diwali.
Following thick rainfall in July, floods in Sattari Taluka affected agriculture that greatly affected.
Chairman of the Minister of Pram Sawant and Agriculture Minister Chandrakan Kavalekar has promised compensation for farmers before Ganesh Chaturthi, who has not been fulfilled, said farmers.
A farmer, Ranjit Rane warned the government that they were all with their families going down on the streets and protests in front of the office of the deputy collector at Sattari Taltari if they did not receive compensation before Diwali.
Rane criticized the government because it did not cooperate with farmers.
He said that heavy rainfall and the next flood in July caused great damage to plants and plantations in Sattari Taluka.
He said that Zonal Sattari’s agriculture office estimated the loss around Rs 50 lakh in Taluka, with Velus, Sonal, Khotode, USTE, Keri, Sanvordem, Bhironda, Advoi, Mauxi, Padei, Massordem and Guleli, and Guleli villages were the most affected .
Rane said that farmers in Sattari only depend on agricultural products and that flooding had destroyed their plants.
Banana plantations, arecanut, cashew and coconut are destroyed other than agricultural plants.
“Because all plantations are destroyed due to floods, farmers face financial problems in celebrating Chathurti Ganesh,” he said.
Dattaram farmers, Ganesh Parahar, Rohini Gaonkar and Shweta said more that they would fight until they got compensation because they faced the financial crisis.
