PORVORIM: Academic institutions will be allowed to continue teaching classes only after the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) issued specific guidelines and after consulting with the center, the Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant said on Thursday, even when he told the legislative assembly that Goa would continue with the class on line.
He said that the state government had requested permission from the center to provide teaching staff and non-teaching doses of the two vaccines after the 30-day gap.
“At this point we have no intention of holding offline classes.
We will hold a consultation with the center when the ICMR guidelines come on how to do offline classes, then we will decide,” Sawant said.
CM responded to the call from MGA MLA Ramakrishna Dhavalikar asking for schools and colleges to start teaching in classrooms because students in the interior could not access online classes.
“This is a pandemic.
With consultation with all, including ICMR, we must make a decision.
I can’t say anything at this time (about offline classes),” Sawant said.
“I have personally talked to the New Health Minister and if he gave us permission, we can give them a second dose.
After that, in the consultation with the center, we can think of starting class,” Sawant said.
