PANAJI: About a thousand participants in North and South Korea are expected to participate in public hearing regarding the draft design plan of coastal zone management (CZMP), starting on Thursday.
Officials said that the trial, which will begin at 10 am, will take place all the time until all participants complete their presentation.
“The trial will continue day and night.
All who register will be given the opportunity to speak,” said the Coastal Zone Management Authority of the Goa (GCZMA) Secretary of the Dashrath Redkar secretary.
The state government has involved three Civil Service Officers Goa – Srinet Kotwale, Agnelo Fernandes and Johnson Fernandes – to assist in public hearing.
Also, district collectors, additional collectors, officials of the Department of State Environment and scientists from the National Center for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM) will be present at the hearing.
The trial will take place both physically and virtually.
Those who have registered for talking online will be connected on virtual venues, to give their objections and suggestions.
Officials said that once all participants completed the making of their presentations, the trial recording would be read in the venue.
This complicated design will then be uploaded on the GCZMA website, and all speakers will be asked to send their correction email, if any, at 5:30 a.m.
on July 15.
Public hearing at Sgpda Ground in Margao for South Goa and the campal parade in North Goa will begin with a presentation by NSCSM scientists.
After this, citizens, who have registered on June 30 to speak, will be given the opportunity to make their presentations.
The registration counter will open in the venue from 10am to 2 noon on Thursday, where registration of the place will be taken from other people who want to speak in the hearing.
Those who have registered themselves in the place will be able to speak after all who have registered on June 30 completed their presentation.
“We have prepared a list of those who have registered and gave them serial numbers.
They will receive appropriate text messages, tell them about their serial number.
Those who have not registered can register in place.
We will receive new registration from 10am to 2 Afternoon.
They will speak after those who have registered until June 30 to participate, “Redkar said.
He said that in both venues, waterproof pandal was established with a capacity to accommodate 1,000 people at a time.
“We will also provide a detention area for those who want to come and sit and listen to the trial,” Redkar said.
Officials say that every speaker will be given 15 minutes to present objections and advice on the CZMP draft.
A large police fence will also be present at the venue to keep law and order.
Public hearing is being carried out after the Goa Foundation approaches the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which states that the public consultation held on March 7 is wrong.
NGT has given goa government time until August 31 to complete the CZMP concept.
